Peter is a professional railway engineer with thirty years signalling & telecommunications engineering experience, seventeen of which have been in management and executive management capacity. He is currently a Principal Consultant with the Rail Infrastructure Business Area.Peter has an MSc in Railway Systems Engineering from the University of Sheffield and has a strong understanding of the general railway systems engineering environment and the importance of the inter-relationships and interfaces between the various systems. As a team member carrying out Independent Safety Assessments of CBTC signalling & control systems for 4 new Beijing Subway lines, he has a detailed knowledge of the requirements, architecture, design, implementation, testing and commissioning into passenger service of several major CBTC supplier’s systems. In addition to independent safety assessment, he has specified and witnessed the site testing of fixed signalling infrastructure, including the interfaces with PSD systems, as well as on-board train control systems.
