I joined the investment management industry in 1985 after graduating with a degree in Accountancy and Finance from the University of Lancaster. I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and an associate of the CFA Society of the UK. I am a Divisional Director in the Manchester office of Brewin Dolphin and head of the specialist charity team.I am a proud member of the national Brewin Dolphin Charity Management Service, particularly focusing on Charities in the North West where we have a center of excellence. Today we are the 5th largest charity investment manager in the UK and pride ourselves on providing specialist advice to all types of Charities. Of course we provide advice regarding the investments a charity has, but importantly we also offer specialist training around the role and responsibilities of Trustees and Charity governance. With each Charity we act for we also help to develop a clear investment policy, a robust reserves policy and take time to go through any ethical considerations which will always be a key consideration when charity investing. We go to great lengths to talk to charities about all aspects of their running and only then make recommendations for a suitable portfolio. We also take pride in the fact we ‘give back’ both in terms of time and financial support to North West charities.
