I have had a long and varied career in music and sound. I began my professional life as a symphonic bassist. I was always interested in recording, and pursued this throughout my performing career.In 1996 I left the symphony and began as a staff composer at Uptown Music (Hong Kong) LTD, writing music for television commercials and corporate communications. During this period I developed a keen interest in sound/music for picture, both the technical and creative aspects.At the same time, I started my life as a freelance bassist, performing in every imaginable setting, from backing Chinese pop stars, to legendary blues greats and jazz musicians.In 1998 I opened my own sound studio in partnership with a designer/editor Louie Hung. We concentrated on corporate communications serving the emerging mainland Chinese market.Highlights from this period include scoring and post sound for feature documentaries for Discovery Asia.In 2003 I opened a recording studio, focusing on record production.At the same time, I produced and performed in a series of creative music projects featuring eminent musicians from all over the world.
