Building rapport with clients comes naturally to me, which is why I’ve always enjoyed working in sales. Developing strong relationships by learning how to meet each client’s needs is, frankly, what I do best. Not surprisingly, my listening skills were honed during my time as a suicide hotline counselor. The connection that is established in both the counselor and sales role is one designed to make the other party feel at ease and to elicit trust. I excel at this and once that foundation is laid, the product often sells itself. The rest of my time is spent maintaining close communication with clients, tracking accounts and taking steps to maximize their growth, and generating new leads. My affinity for sales and people began with my first job in college as a knife salesman. Along with my background in psychology and ability to work well with a range of people, I had great success selling New York City as a travel destination to clients worldwide for 10 years. Building on that, I sold over 30 SKUs to more than 50 accounts at Leisure Pass Group and was selected to head up their NYC sales effort. Unfortunately, due to the impact COVID-19 has had on the tourism industry, my entire team was let go. However, the passion and drive I have for sales and rapport-building remains intact. I’m excited to use these skills to help generate revenue in my next position.
