Liaison between the medical community and the Nevada Bureau of Disability Adjudication (BDA) under the Social Security Administration (SSA). Foster relationships with medical entities and maintains oversight of their activities, ensuring SSA and the BDA staff have the resources available to adjudicate disability claims for the Social Security program

Position is responsible for the development and reinforcement of a culture of quality decisions, promoting end-to-end claim management proficiency, while focusing on ensuring strong customer experiences and instilling technical expertise as a core discipline into every aspect of disability insurance benefits. Plan, organize, coordinate and lead the activities of a team of Disability Adjudicators; Serve as a primary resource and subject matter expert in order to provide guidance on Social Security disability laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures; assist in the resolution of complex casework or workload problems; establish and implement work performance standards, evaluate performance, initiate and manage disciplinary actions. Monitor caseload management of team members to ensure the adjudication of claims meets performance metric goals for accuracy, production and timeliness established by the agency and the Social Security Administration; respond to escalated claimant inquiries and resolve complex case deficiencies; perform talent acquisition duties in reviewing, interviewing and assessing candidates for employment; provide training and guidance for ongoing staff development and advancement. Performed duties in project management, process improvement and programmatic efficiencies, utilizing lean and agile principles to create performance improvement initiatives.

Senior journey-level claims adjudicator responsible for managing a high volume caseload of initial, reconsideration and Continuing Disability claims for Social Security Administration. Complete complex data analysis to render formal medicolegal decisions of disability based on evidentiary requirements of Social Security law, rules and regulations in coordination with medical professionals. The position requires advanced analytical skills and in-depth programmatic knowledge of disability insurance, and the ability to data conduct a detailed comparative analysis of medical findings against programmatic requirements, complete complex analysis of functional and vocational capacities. Position involved acting as Lead Mentor for the team to provide regular assistance and guidance to fellow adjudicators regarding policy adherence and adjudicative protocol relative to complex medical, vocational and program issues.

Reviews social security disability claims to evaluate alleged impairments and related limitations. Gather and analyze medical evidence to determine severity and limitations from impairments that are consistent and reasonable given the medical impairment. Analyze individuals' past work to determine whether it could continue to be performed given their current limitation, or whether or not other jobs in the national economy would be accommodating to their current functional capacities. Job requires high workload capacity, timeliness and thoroughness in actions, as well as an in-depth knowledge of social security regulations, medical conditions and their affect on the human body, and general vocational requirements.
