ORBIS (Offering Rail Better Information Services) is a 7 year, £350m business transformation programme that will deliver Network Rail's Asset Information Strategy. It aims to deliver a sustainable improvement in asset information, designed to enable Network Rail and industry partners to deliver greater value for money, improve asset management maturity, drive a positive culture toward management of information and better support a devolved rail industry structure.• Owner of the ORBIS Programme Architecture and accountable for delivery of architecture, design and assurance services across the entire programme. • Leading/managing a team of architects and analysts who provide a number of services to the Programme Director to ensure alignment with the ORBIS vision, strategy and roadmap. • Defining business capabilities, and their benefit prioritised delivery roadmaps, that the Asset Information Operations organisation will deliver in the form of business services to both internal and external customers. • Ensuring that other strategic business initiatives are aligned with the ORBIS roadmap by participating on their programme boards and providing them with architecture and design support.• Developed the ORBIS Programme Methodology with Output Specification, Market Engagement, Product Delivery and Post Product Delivery and Acceptance phases. Defined all products / deliverables and quality / assurance stage gates at each phase.• Implemented an architecture modelling tool (OpenText ProVision) to support the ongoing development of the programme architecture and implement the required controls required by the PMO as defined in the programme methodology.• Developing Strategic, Programme and Project levels of architecture meta-models within the ProVision tool and populating / linking these to publish and communicate a line-of-sight between strategy and delivery.• Accountability for assuring all programme deliverables from an architecture and design perspective.

• Assisted the Director, Asset Information in the production of the Asset Information Strategy for delivery to the Rail Regulator. • Developed the business architecture definition for vision, mission, goals, objectives, analysis of as-is process, location, organisation & information domains and established desired to-be states by undertaking gap analysis to define / inform roadmap activities & priorities. • Designed/delivered visioning workshops with key stakeholders to gain engagement and buy-in to the strategy.• Overall responsibility for the definition and population of the Network Rail operating model within the enterprise architecture framework for both as-is and to-be states.• Designing and facilitating process discovery workshops to capture the detailed process activities required to deliver an improved approach to managing railway infrastructure assets based on new engineering policies, i.e. Route Asset Management Plans.• Leading a team of Business Process Analysts who are the custodians of all data related to business processes and ensuring the alignment with process improvement initiatives.

• Led the set up of an Enterprise Architecture Practice to support the implementation of an Enterprise Architecture at Network Rail. This included the creation of planning phase outputs including the Vision & Mission, Direction (Goals), Influences & Drivers, Principles, Strategies & Initiatives, Service Portfolio & Operational Management Plan. Follow on activities included modeling the organisation structure and defining a skills / competency framework for the architecture team as well as all upstream and downstream architecture governance and assurance processes. • Created an Enterprise Architecture framework which defined a number of models, i.e. Performance, Influences, Direction, Action, Rules, Service, Process, Information, Timing, Organisation, Location, Safety, Materials, Consumables, Information / Data, Technology, Solutions & Security. The framework, a hybrid formed from the TOGAF, ZACHMAN, FEAF, NASCIO, IEEE 1471 and OMG BMM reference frameworks, was modeled using IBM Rational System Architect.

• Primarily responsible for introducing corporate portal technology into the organisation.• Design Authority for Supply Chain National Logistic Unit, which implemented customised Oracle Applications 11i modules to support the delivery of railway infrastructure materials to site. Compilation of high level architecture to support strategic programmes and their constituent projects based on the strategic vision. • Led the ERP Design Authority ensuring that projects that wish to use existing or build new Oracle eBusiness Suite 11i functionality did so in a coherent and controlled manner.

West Coast Route Modernisation (WCRM) Project: Design/development of the West Coast Asset Store system enabling users to create, maintain and delete asset data for the West Coast Route.

LIBRA Project: High level and detail design of modules for a system to support all of the primary functions of the Magistrates Courts in England & Wales.

Distributed Stores Management System (DSMS) Project: Led a team responsible for H/L Design, UI, prototype & detail design and development of ORACLE data models and Forms & Reports. Various projects: Producing high level and detail designs for military systems.
