Peter Thoma is the President and Co-founder of Toronto-based real estate consultancy, urbanMetrics inc. Peter started his professional career in real estate and planning in the mid-1990s joining Coopers & Lybrand Consulting, which later became, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).In early 2004, Peter, along with four other senior colleagues, acquired the National Real Estate Advisory Services Practice from PwC, launching urbanMetrics as an independent consulting firm specializing in real estate market feasibility analysis, economic impact and municipal advisory services. His clients include developers, real estate asset managers as well as cities, towns and provincial agencies. Over the past 25 years Peter has executed hundreds of consulting mandates related to project feasibility, economic impact analysis, population and employment forecasting, business case analysis, site selection, and municipal strategy. His expertise has been applied to a wide variety of development-related consulting projects from Charlottetown to Victoria and Windsor to Iqaluit. Over the past five years, Peter has worked on a growing number of seniors-focused projects, including age-friendly strategies and adult-lifestyle housing projects. Peter is a skilled presenter and an active champion of what he calls, 'Quantified Engagement' -- a technique that involves direct audience polling and participation. He holds a Master’s of Science degree in Urban Planning and Development (M.Sc.Pl.) from the University of Toronto and a Honour's BA in Urban Studies from Concordia University in Montreal.Peter is a member of the Simcoe (Toronto) Chapter of Lambda Alpha International, the Honorary Society for the Advancement of Land Economics. He is also a registered professional planner (MCIP, RPP), and holds memberships with the Association of Ontario Land Economists (PLE) and the Urban Land Institute.
