Developed and staffed the IT team responsible for supporting all of EMPAC's operations, from desktop, datacenter and networking to working with artists and researchers as part of the creative process. Managed the IT budget, and supplied equipment to staff and guests. Worked with the rest of RPI's IT departments to integrate solutions across campus, and created new tools specifically for EMPAC's operations. Technologies included high-speed networking, virtualization, Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. Also specialized hardware and software for video, audio, and stage technology. Participated in international partnerships as well as local entities.

Part of the Systems Administration team at Prediction Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of UBS AG. Primary duties include:- UNIX (Solaris, RedHat ES) administration.- Redundancy for Sybase database administration.- Redundancy for backup administration.- Implement SAN for tape library backup of multiple platforms.

Highlights include:- Complete rework of all of Daylight’s systems, including a new Internet connection, router, firewall, internal NIS structure, file server, DNS servers wireless, and backups.- Redesigned internal (gigabit) and external network layout, employing a Netscreen-based NAT network with dual DMZs and VPN capability for employees.- Complete design, setup, and teardown of offsite heterogeneous networks for three of Daylight’s annual User Group Meetings, two in Santa Fe, one in San Diego.- Replaced outdated systems and implemented platform support for Linux on AMD64, IA64, and OS X.- Took over support of phone system (Nortel) and alarm system to reduce use of outside vendors.- Significantly improved computer security.- Acted as technical advisory for the company to identify trends in the industry.

Senior Systems Administrator for Sun's CTO Physical Sciences Center / RAS Computer Analysis Laboratories. Created and supported a computer lab for Sun's advanced research group in San Diego, CA. Worked at all levels, from desktops to supercomputers.

Responsible for tier four support on mission-critical escalations on Sun's Enterprise 10000 (E10K) and Sun Fire 15K (F15K) platforms. Also responsible for post-mortem analysis, interfacing between engineering and support, and alpha/beta support of new systems.

Built Systems Administration group from scratch.Spec'd, purchased, and installed a 5+ million-dollar Sun E10000 HPC supercomputer, as well as numerous other systems.Redesigned entire network, moving from a flat 10mbit network with a direct Internet connection to a fully 10/100 switched, firewalled network with a T3 Internet connection and an OC-3 link between buildings.Member of the project oversight committee responsible for overseeing all projects at the Center.Responsible for a multi-million-dollar yearly budget.
