• Assisted national nonprofit dedicated to the protection of children in immigration proceedings.• Collaborated with KIND field offices to on media coverage. Helped create a cost-free website to track press stories and Congressional reports. • Drafted grant proposals and co-drafted KIND’s FY2018 appropriations guide book for Congress, the White House and the Administration Transition Team.• Participated in working groups with leading progressive think tanks and immigration-focused NGOs to develop legislative and judicial strategy.

Mexico City Area, Mexico

As part of the Department of State's Virtual Student Foreign Service Internship Program, I collected, analyzed, and compounded daily reports on Mexican Labor and Education news to be sent to the State Department in which I synthesized and translated news primarily from Spanish to English. I also collaborated with the Embassy on a report of the effects of tourism on the economy of the Yucatan Peninsula, in preparation of the High Level Economic Dialogue between Mexico and the United States.

I helped refugees newly admitted to the United States through the process of resettlement and assisted refugees in applying for government services, including energy assistance and public housing Together with the larger Wesleyan Refugee Project, we developed a program to house refugees at Wesleyan University housing as part of Connecticut’s plan to double the amount of refugees resettled in the state, created a scholarship grant for Syrian citizens to receive university education, and held various fundraisers to benefit refugee agencies and promote knowledge of refugee rights.

My responsibilities included updating and modernizing training instructions and handbooks, producing survey materials to improve communications between the National Headquarters and local unions, and providing support in education, safety, bargaining, and liaison services from National Headquarters to local union chapters.
