Development of NSW Government’s Aboriginal Arts and Cultural Strategy designed to help build partnerships between Aboriginal people and the NSW Government in the interests of strengthening Aboriginal leadership, economic independence and cultural and social well being in arts and culture.Preparation of advice, including submissions, reports and correspondence, to the Minister, Director-General and senior management on Aboriginal arts related issues, including implementation of the Government’s Aboriginal arts policy.Preparing responses to Ministerial representations and general correspondence.Advancing and facilitating the development of sustainable partnerships between: Aboriginal artists and communities living in New South Wales and local government; State government; the private sector and arts and cultural organisations - to undertake innovative projects and ensure the long-term viability of regional Aboriginal arts and cultural strategies and activities.

Coordinate and/or contribute to the development of Museum public programs such as exhibitions and web based resources, including the development of Aboriginal consultation processes.Oversee the collection management of the Australian Museum’s culturally sensitive collections of secret/sacred cultural materials and ancestral remains including the development of culturally appropriate practices in storage, access and protocols. .Coordination the Australian Museum’s “Return of Cultural Property” program for the repatriation of the Australian Museum’s collections of ancestral remains and secret sacred material. Coordinating the delivery of the Aboriginal Museums Outreach Program.Provision of expert advice on cultural and heritage matters concerned with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to various local, state and federal government agencies and departments, cultural and heritage institutions and Australian Museum staff. •Development of resources for the Aboriginal communities serviced by the Aboriginal Heritage Unit which include cultural exhibitions for Aboriginal cultural centres and Web based programs CDROM’s that highlight indigenous Australian culture for educational, preservation or promotional purposes
