With over 30 plus years of experience in the creative and cultural heritage sector, I am a proud Gamilaroi Murri who leads the First Nations Cultural Engagement at Museums of History NSW. My mission is to assist and champion the inherent cultural rights of First Peoples communities in both managing and practising their own culture and to assist and guide the mainstream cultural sector in effectively engaging with these communities for mutually respected benefits based on the principles of cultural authority.I have a passion, drive, and commitment towards enhancing the cultural, social, and economic well-being of First Peoples communities through cultural engagement and expression. I have a proven track record of formulating and managing complex and culturally appropriate engagement programs, including dealing with culturally sensitive material such as First Peoples ancestral remains and secret sacred material. I have also developed, managed, and maintained an extensive and active network of contacts and partnerships in the arts, community, public, private, and education sectors that strengthen the viability of Indigenous culture and arts initiatives and policies. I use new technologies for innovative approaches to service delivery and cultural transmission, and I have high-level communication, liaison, and consultation skills within both a First Peoples cultural and high-level government context.
