I am a Designer-- an Industrial Designer, an Interior Designer and a Furniture Designer. I have been involved in this profession since my "early 60's college days" @ the University of Michigan while also working for Herman Miller in the Research Division under Robert Propst during the invention of the Action Office. We all like to work on relevant projects with potential. Well that surely was one. Yes, wouldn't we all like that formula. I know what it is for me today: Creativity & Good Hard Work". Even with that, our odds are probably 1 in 100 that we hit the home run. Interesting that we keep on trying. I do because I like to. I own my own business & enjoy my work even in these tough economic times.I have also had the good fortune of a successful membership in the professional organization for industrial designers starting in 1971: IDSA (Industrial Designers Society of America).. I was elected to national office in positions as the Vice President and then President-- both 2 year terms in 1985-86 & 1987-88. I was instrumental in leading IDSA into a International Agreement of Understanding with the SSD (the Soviet Society of Designers) signing an Accord of Mutual Cooperation with their President, Yuri Soloviev, in 1988 after a visit to Moscow and Leningrad.Specialties: Regarding Business & Residential Clients:Understanding Clients Needs; including good communicationDesign Layout & Floor Plans; Creative Preliminary Designs.

Director, Risd Universal Kitchen ProjectRhode Island School Of Design Sep 1995 - Jun 2003Co-Director of the special development of the Universal Kitchen at the Rhode Island School of Design--a major research project focusing on developing a New Universal Kitchen that would do the most good for the most people engaged in kitchen use. This special project continued over 5 years and involving over 100 students and 6 corporate sponsors and leading to multiple prototypes.. A final prototype kitchen was features in the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York. Maytag Corporation purchased the UK Design Rights from RISD. -
Project Director/Universal DesignRhode Island School Of Design 1996 - 2001Along with 2 teaching colleagues, Jane Langmuir & Marc Harrison, we developed a Universal Design program focusing on the Home Kitchen.This project evolved from student teams working in existing kitchens, to new concepts, to prototypes and eventually full scale models for testing and then when finalized, displayed at the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York. RISD later sold the rights to Maytag.
