In my work as a Government Performance Fellow I supported Seattle's Human Services Department in planning for an upcoming homeless services funding processes. In particular, I focused on how careful procurement planning can help governments improve the outcomes and equity of their social service spending.

At the Government Performance Lab, I provided technical and strategic assistance to the State of New York on social impact bond projects in areas including maternal health, diabetes prevention, and juvenile justice.

Washington Appleseed is a nonprofit dedicated to achieving lasting social change through law and policy initiatives in areas including access to justice, basic needs, and education. While at Appleseed, my focus was on developing a guidebook for former prisoners that describes their legal rights and obligations and provides clear explanations of how to find housing, get a job, and navigate other obstacles they face upon release. Working on a small team of summer fellows, I interviewed stakeholders, researched legal issues, and drafted language to use in the guide.My other projects included work on the Fair Housing Act and education reform, and working with the staff and board of directors on planning future projects.

While working on the Polis campaign, I wrote and edited fundraising emails on policy topics including child nutrition, education, and marriage equality. I also worked to recruit volunteers for the campaign and persuade potential voters.]

At Homeward 2020, I developed a predictive model evaluating supportive housing needs of chronically homeless individuals to in Fort Collins. After interviewing service providers in the area, reviewing social-science literature, and analyzing survey data, I presented cost-estimates for the creation of permanent supportive housing to the organization's leadership.

At HOME Line I led a team of seven interns that successfully lobbied the Minnesota legislature to block $186 million in cuts to to a major low-income renter tax credit program. I tracked legislation, met with legislators, produced and distributed press releases, and wrote articles for the HOME Line policy blog.
