As a business coach I work with business owners, leaders, and decision-makers to grow business value and individual and team contributions. While growing revenue and profit is usually important, what matters most is creating business value and at the same time ‘paying the people and the bills’.As a businesspeople connector and Network in Action franchise owner, I form and run mastermind-like groups of business owners and decision-makers. I use the Network in Action model and software platform to help people build meaningful, productive, and long-lasting relationships where they learn from me and each other, pass vetted referrals, connect with and use vetted vendors, and much more. Most of my decades of networking experiences were disappointing and frustrating – ineffective, inefficient, and time-consuming – just not good with a low ROI. So, I looked around for a better way to network and build a strong community of like-minded people and found Network In Action. My nature is not to be a “joiner”, but Network in Action was so superior that I bought in as a franchise owner. I lead networking groups and share my business coaching expertise and experience with the group members.I was not always a business coach. I began my career in project management consulting and training at Microsoft, Starbucks, Boeing, and other big companies. This morphed into team and leadership development, then executive and top team coaching at these same companies. I was skilled at transformations, learning and development, nurturing and aligning culture and innovation with strategy, selecting and developing talent and teams, and all aspects of strategy development, planning, and execution, including product and agile project management.While working with leaders in larger to medium-sized companies was satisfying, something was missing. Something hard to describe but inherent in small business owners in the $1 million to $50 million range. Helping people with more ‘skin in the game’, somehow more personal – and being able to see concrete results faster and more clearly. So, I pivoted from bigger to smaller businesses, and am really enjoying it. It’s somehow different when money is essentially coming out of one’s own pocket rather than from a big company budget.I find great satisfaction when working with and through others to achieve stretch goals. I employ an entrepreneurial mindset and get people to pull in the same direction. I strive to get the best out of everyone I work with while we constantly look for and act on opportunities to learn and grow.
