Point of Sale (POS) Development Manager "Under Pete's direction, we were able to complete more POS projects in the past three years than the previous ten years combined." - Bron McCall, CIO Flying J, Inc.As the POS Development Manager, my role was to plan, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to the design, development, and implementation of Flying J's POS systems. In order to do this, I had to apply proven communication skills, problem solving skills, project management skills, team building skills, and knowledge of best practices to guide my team on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical point of sale applications.Managed as many as thirteen Point of Sale developers consisting of .Net, C++, and VB6 programmers. We were responsible for developing/maintaining the Retail Operations Sales System (ROSS) point of sale software for Flying J. This software supported our travel plazas, restaurants, and JCare service centers.My team also developed a web based time-keeping system that allowed over 14,000 employees to input/update their time records.Worked closely with business leaders to define, design, prioritize and implement POS development projects.Worked with business units within Flying J to implement Salesforce.com CRM system. I am also a trained system administrator for this system.

Acting Director while supervisor was out on maternity leave.Responsible for archival of legacy First Health HR/Payroll/Financial systems due to acquisition of First Health by Coventry Health Care.In charge of Integrated Revenue Management System (IRMS) team. IRMS is a system that was developed in-house and assists the Accounting department with the tracking of revenue.

Managed as many as twenty employees who were responsible for enhancing the Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. This system encompassed HR/Payroll/Benefits and Financials. We also implemented Oracle Self-Service HR for employee and manager self-service.Our team also developed a web-based benefit enrollment system and a web-based merit increase system.

Responsible for team that supported the Oracle Payroll application (version 10.7 SC). Responsibilities included trouble-shooting errors, developing custom reports and interfaces, modifying fast formulas and working with payroll users to insure satisfaction.Our team upgraded Oracle's HR/Payroll application to version 11i. We were one of the first companies in the nation to successfully upgrade to 11i.

Assisted with two successful payroll conversions from legacy systems to Oracle's HR/Payroll 10.7 SC application.Worked as the key Information Systems contact for year-end/quarter-end processing for reporting of wage listings to states and federal government. This entailed working with the payroll tax coordinator to prepare the year-end/quarterly reports, retrieve the reports from the production system, copy them to the appropriate media, fill out the necessary forms, and mail them to the appropriate government agencies.Assumed HR/Payroll system administrator responsibilities which included being the primary contact for registering reports and stored procedures into First Health's production system. Also included was setting up new users into the system.Supported the Human Resource and Payroll departments by writing interfaces and reports using Oracle's Developer/2000 suite of tools. Among some of the uses of the interfaces and reports were benefits administration, querying payroll/tax related data, and printing quarterly wage data. Payroll support also included trouble-shooting issues with direct deposits and printing of payroll checks.Assisted with the implementation of a new method of calculating Flexible Time Off (FTO). This included working with fast formulas and setting up new elements and balances in the Oracle application.Received Oracle training in the following areas: Developer/2000 Reports and Forms, SQL, Year-End Processing, Program Units, and Extending Oracle Applications.

Coordinated verification of PCMCIA modems. Responsibilities included being a liaison between hardware, firmware, and software development and our Product Quality Assurance group to insure that new modem technologies were ready to be verified including the latest V.90 (56K) protocol.Created test plans and test reports and analyzed the data after the tests were complete.Traveled to Europe to test international modem and establish contact for future products.

Member of the Open Parallel Unisys Server (OPUS) firmware group responsible for developing a parser to aid in the configuration of the scalable parallel processor system and library calls to extract configuration information.Developed a test suite to verify functionality of OPUS library calls.Validated the UNIX operating system as a member of the OS Development group.Created test plans and test reports as a project lead while a member of the Product Verification group.Conducted meetings to track Operating System problem resolution.Acted as manager during manager's absence.

Debugged, modified, and executed existing tests on several Unisys server platforms. Some tests were run under the Test Environment Toolkit (TET).Performed system administrator duties on test machines. Duties included installing the OS, setting up systems on the network, and configuring the hardware.

Created and modified programs for Sewer Inventory and Maintenance Management System (SIMMS) using DBASE III+.Created data entry and report generation screens.Performed data checks to insure database integrity.Responsible for minor hardware repairs such as installing memory boards and Bernoulli boxes on COMPAQ PC's.
