Co-Founder And Non-Exec DirectorAlpin Dec 2012 - Jun 2021Sydney, New South Wales, AuAs an Entrepreneur I learned what it means (and what it takes!) to be truly accountable for results. We founded Alpin (a self-funded search vehicle) to leverage our diverse experience, investing in a range of established small businesses and leading them through their next phase of growth. My primary role (beyond sourcing, M&A, financing, etc) was to operate our businesses post acquisition, initially taking the CEO position. Under the Alpin umbrella, we acquired SRO Technology, CIC Technology, Duncan Solutions, CIT Holidays and PTronik. I was the post-acquisition CEO for both SRO and CIC, delivering significant change / growth for both in 18-36mths and subsequently managing my own succession. I also dropped into the Executive Team at Duncan Solutions (as Dep-CEO) to drive critical performance improvement for a six month period in early 2017, just prior to our sell down to Anacacia Capital.I now continue building value by coaching our CEOs as a Non-Exec Director. In this capacity I leverage the full breadth of learning from my career to date, as an Engineer, Project Manager, Investment Banker, Corporate Executive, Non-Exec Director and finally Entrepreneur! -

National Manager - Operations, Cml & Brand AllianceStockland May 2012 - Apr 2013Sydney, New South Wales, AuAs a Corporate Executive I learned to navigate the complex stakeholder relationships and inner workings of a large, listed business.I joined Stockland in their fledgling Risk Management team, at a time when the organisation was much more complex and diverse than a standard listed landlord. I enjoyed the opportunity to cut across a range of operations, including Stockland's investments in a UK property portfolio. I leveraged that experience to take up a role leading the National Operations team in the Commercial Property Portfolio (Retail, Office and Industrial). This subsequently led to additional responsibility for retail branding revenue and casual mall leasing. As a result, by the end of my time at Stockland, I was responsible for overseeing the opex and capex budgets of the commercial property portfolio, along with brand / CML revenue of $15-20m. -

AssociateEvans & Peck Mar 2009 - Oct 2009North Sydney, Nsw, AuOn my return from London, I joined Evans & Peck, prior to its acquisition by Worley Parsons and rebranding to Advisian. At the time, E&P were starting to build a unique business consulting offering in the context of an engineering / infrastructure practice. I was leveraging the combination of my engineering and business qualifications and experience to help with this journey. We pitched for, and undertook, a range of management consulting style engagements, including the establishment of the head office of NovoRail (Rail Corps joint venture with private practice) and business case due-diligence for large government infrastructure projects.I left E&P when I was head-hunted by the new Chief Risk Officer of Stockland to join the new Risk Management team he was building there. E&P continued on their business and management consulting journey, finally being acquired by Worley Parsons and becoming Advisian, globally. -
Associate DirectorMacquarie Bank Sep 2005 - Mar 2009Sydney, Nsw, AuAs an Investment Banker I learned the important balance between risk and return. At Macquarie I had the opportunity to put my Business / Finance degree to the test, along with the skills I had gained in Engineering and Project Management from my prior roles. Internal Audit gave me the opportunity to get under the bonnet of most businesses across the global group. Leading the Credit Risk team in London put me at the front line of the Global Financial Crisis in 2007-08. -
Senior Project ManagerCarson Group Jul 2002 - Aug 2005As a Project Manager I learned to build / lead teams and to get things done!I moved to Carson Group to continue my development as a manager - in this case, specifically Project Management. I learned a lot about: coordinating large, multidisciplinary teams; delivering projects to time, cost and quality; and managing complex client relationships. This role was an excellent opportunity for me to start learning how to manage important stakeholder relationships.

EngineerHughes Trueman Dec 1997 - Jun 2002As an Engineer I learned how to distill problems and design solutions. In this role I learned the fundamentals of practical engineering design, which I continue to use on a daily basis in my approach to problem definition and solution orientation. Whilst I haven't practiced as an engineer since 2002, I still feel very much like an engineer, bringing curiosity, integrity, and a solution mindset to each situation. The owners and leaders at Hughes Trueman also gave me my first exposure to the management of a small, growing business. I had the opportunity to get closely involved with a number of management initiatives, some of which I initiated myself.
