When I was working on my MBA, I co-founded Techquisition, LLC (startup) with the Director of Intellectual Property & Commercialization at Louisiana Tech University. I wrote the business plan, designed the website, and helped develop and implement the marketing strategy. I served as the Marketing Director and handled all IT issues. In 2006, Techquisition.com was the first online platform of its kind that brought together both buyers and sellers of technology in a unique way that allowed the licensing of technology to take place fluidly. Our company experienced explosive growth in a short time span, as the platform that we created went viral. This wasn't a surprise as we were serving a community with the exact solution they wanted.Achievements:• Techquisition grew exponentially with minimal capital investment (less than $100) within the 1st year.• Over 650 companies and universities signed up and used its services.

Business Web Solutions, LLC is a small business I started in graduate school. It provided web design, web hosting, and graphic design services. I handled both sales and fulfillment, and the revenue I generated paid for my MBA in full and provided additional income while getting my masters degree. I greatly enjoyed working with my clients.

During my college years, I worked as a Graduate Assistant in the Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization at Louisiana Tech University, as the direct assistant to the Director of Intellectual Property. As part of my responsibilities, I was the administrator of the technology database (Inteum) and monitored/reported patent development costs for Louisiana Tech's entire technology portfolio. In addition, I helped develop and implement marketing plans for some of Louisiana Tech's emerging technologies. Overall, I learned a tremendous amount about current methods and strategies for developing and commercializing intellectual property (provisional and non-provisional patents), from a licensor's (technology seller) perspective.This experience led to the development of a startup company (Techquisition, LLC) co-founded by the Director of Intellectual Property at Louisiana Tech and myself.
