Oversee the MPO's smart cities assessment aimed at finding technology-based solutions to address a host of traffic and transportation issues. Serve on team representing City of Nashville as part of Transportation for America's Smart Cities Collaborative.Coordinate with the Office of Mayor Barry and the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce Moving Forward initiative to evaluate the status of current intelligent transportation systems across the region to develop recommendations for how to upgrade those systems and prepare for the emergence of connected vehicles, urban automation, and integrated communications systems.Serve as chair of subcommittee on Mobility within Connected Nashville: A Vision for Smarter City. Responsible for coordinating with local communities across the region on parking policies, land use plans, and land development regulations.Serve on steering committee for Walk N Bike, Metro Nashville's update to the Sidewalk and Bike Master Plan update; focus on prioritization.Assist with efforts to produce and manage Regional Transportation Plan, Transportation Improvement Plan.

Led efforts and sponsored legislation creating a bicycle parking requirement for new development.• Represented Metropolitan Nashville Council on the Greater Nashville Regional Council (2011-2013), working with other city and county executives on regional issues.• Promulgate rules, regulations, or ordinances affecting the well being of the citizens of Nashville. Have sponsored and/or supported bills promoting smart growth, partner benefits for Metro employees, sustainability, economic development, storm water and infill, and transportation.

• Researched, reviewed, and edited reports in partnership with EMV Energy and the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance. These resource papers examined the final Clean Power Plan updates from the Environmental Protection Agency, specifically sharing information for regional utilities and stakeholders in areas of energy efficiency crediting and attribution, program ramp-up rates, regional and state plans, reliability and adequacy benefits, and technical and planning resources.

• Manage state’s Qualified Energy Conservation Bond (QECB) Program, resulting in over $36 million in bonds being issued across the state for energy saving projects. Establish criteria for program, write RFP for competitive sub-allocation process, work with staff of the department as well as staff from the Office of State and Local Finance to coordinate materials and meetings. Conduct workshops and present the QECB program at diverse forums around the state through the TN Energy Education Initiative. Write press releases and lead outreach, establish criteria for evaluation of proposals, and work with finance and legal departments from local jurisdictions and state Attorney General office to ensure program operations are meeting objectives and deadlines. Following RFP, present recommendations for proposals to receive bond allocation to the Tennessee Local Development Authority.• Coordinate and chair bimonthly meetings of the Tennessee Electric Vehicle Advisory Council, consisting of representatives from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, industry partners, Clean Fuels Coalition partners, and transportation officials. Share news with Council related to electric vehicles and/or charging infrastructure, attend webinars and conferences related to sustainable transportation, alternative fuel vehicles, and emerging markets for electric vehicles.• Contribute energy-related content to blog at TNenergy.org.• Serve as program backup for the Emergency Support Function (ESF) 12, which collects, evaluates, and shares information on energy system vulnerabilities and estimated impact of energy system outages with stakeholder groups. Coordinate trainings with fuel suppliers, distributers, and first responders to establish procedures in the event of a supply disruption.• Researched and contributed information on Tennessee’s statewide energy picture for the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy’s annual Energy Scorecard.
