The ETA Tool is a web-app that helps city planners communicate with their residents on how changes in speed limits will impact their driving commutes. The user inputs a route and the ETA Tool displays an ETA based on current speed limits and another ETA based on changes proposed by the city.- Won the first contract through an MVP at Calgary's 2018 Vision Zero Hackathon.- Built solutions for transportation departments in 8 cities and amassed over 24,000 unique users: Major cities: Calgary, AB; Edmonton, AB; Winnipeg, MB Other cities: St. Albert, AB; Spruce Grove, AB; Leduc, AB; Ft. Saskatchewan, AB; Stony Plain, AB- Came up with the algorithms and data model for projecting ETAs.- Cleaned up the GIS data provided by cities and created the data pipeline.- Shipped software as an iFrame, hosted using Heroku, and stored GIS data in MongoDB.- Testified for lower speed limits to city councils in Edmonton and Calgary; both cities enacted lower speed limits within 6 months.
