About Petra Davidson

I’m an HR professional with 12+ years of experience in a variety of industries. While I’ve mainly worked in U.S.-based HR & Operations, I also gathered some global experience, having worked at companies with offices or clientele in Europe and Asia. In any job I ever held, the one thing I always enjoyed most is helping people. My focus is always to create the best possible amalgamation of compliance, processes, and culture - compliance to protect the business; processes to save the company money; and a company culture that fosters a happy workforce who know they can trust me with their questions, worries and concerns, allowing me to address them before they become issues. To me, HR isn’t a straight line – it’s a maze, and I not only have the ability to navigate it no matter how many twists and turns, but I also truly enjoy tackling those challenges. I’ve had the opportunity to work in different HR environments, from law offices to a warehouse environment, U.S. Military, gaming industry to event production. Through that, I learned that no two companies can be treated the same, and creating outstanding HR means to roll up your sleeves, evaluate the wants of the staff and needs of the business, and create a company-specific path to success for all stakeholders. To me, the ideal position is one where I can create or re-design HR from the ground up: dust off the policies that have ‘always been’, get to know the people, and shape a personnel experience where the happiness of the staff goes hand in hand with the needs of the business and the law. The more of a challenge, the better. Solving a seemingly impossible problem is what makes a day of hard work a great experience – not a day full of chores. My proudest achievement was working for the US divisions of Angry Birds, the game, and Angry Birds, the movie, where I was able to create HR from the ground up, source improvements in company culture, benefits, and the understanding of the different cultures, and the company put their trust in to independently oversee the business as a whole when the U.S. operations wrapped up and transitioned back to the Finland Headquarters. The other part of my responsibilities is Operations, and particularly with smaller companies, HR and Operations go hand in hand, and produce the most powerful results. Whether it’s sourcing vendors, or finding the best ways to integrate different systems, my goal is always better service, savings, added perks and complete transparency for the business.
