As the Head of Linguistic Services at StepStone, I lead a team of linguists, software developers and data analysts who work on building our ontology, a huge knowledge network. This ontology is not only the barebone of the search and recommender technology for StepStone, one of the leading online job platforms, but is also used to standardise and classify all our data. In this way, the analysts can create smart data from big data so that we can gain valuable insights to further improve our products. I have over 25 years of experience in various fields of computational linguistics, such as machine translation, dialogue processing, question answering, information retrieval, semantic processing, speech recognition, and human-robot interaction. I hold a PhD from the University of Stuttgart as well as a Master of Arts in Computational Linguistics from the University of Regensburg. I have worked in both research and industry, managing complex software projects, since I enjoy product development and discovery. I am a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO). I am passionate about applying linguistic knowledge and natural language understanding to create user-friendly and intelligent solutions.
