Through human centered design strategy, data collection, and analysis Petra is helping define the process, people, tools, measures, metrics, and governance to build a user-focused culture within the Navy’s Naval Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (N-MRO) program. She got her introduction to Navy business systems as a Senior Human Factors Scientist at Pacific Science & Engineering supporting the Navy's PMW 240 Sea Warrior Program (PEO MLB). She started her professional career with the Army Research Institute and then the Army Research Laboratory’s Human Research & Engineering Directorate as a research psychologist. She holds a M.S. in Human Systems Integration (HSI) from the Naval Postgraduate School (2007), a M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from George Mason University (2001), and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park (1999). Petra has over 26 years of applied human factors, user experience, and survey research experience. She plans and facilitates design thinking workshops to help define goals and bring together stakeholders to collaborate to solve unique challenges. She also plans human-centered design data collection opportunities to gather the right data, from the right people, at the right time, in order to improve system usability, task/job performance, and user satisfaction.
