About Petra Franklin

Operations and Strategy. As the co-founder and managing director of Vault Capital, a tech seed fund, I leverage institutional partnerships, produce novel get-to-market strategies, author technology reports, lead seminars, provide transparency to our limited partners, conduct ongoing fundamental analyses of companies, and raise follow-on capital; in the case of Terabeam, that was $60M, and for Glowforge, we are currently at $113.2M. Outside of the venture world, I worked for Sun Microsystems and was Head Chair for the ten-year National Science Foundation’s Technology Center for Material Science (STC-MDITR) at the University of Washington. There, I oversaw a decade of multi-institutional research collaborations that resulted in 372 patents, 1741 scientific publications, 1839 presentations, and 15 start-up companies. In the media world, I have worked for CBS News, been a producer for a national television series called The Artist Toolbox, and co-produced a sold-out music series called Tower Sessions. The Artist Toolbox stars John Jacobsen and runs on PBS. Each episode is an interview with a creative genius inside their own home. The first season included artists such as Isabelle Allende, John Legend, Tom Skerritt, Zang Toi, David Garrett, Sam Gillian, Vignelli’s, Daniel Boulud, and Ramsley Lewis. Tower Sessions delivered approximately 29 profitable music events and included artists such as Allen Stone, David Bazan, Noah Gundersen, and Kris Orlowski.Fun Links Tower Sessions Promo: https://youtu.be/yhKerro2yqYLocal King 5 Story: https://youtu.be/Fe7-_PCLOZs
