I'm glad I didn't listen to those who said, "Focus on one area and work to become an expert in that one thing." To lead a brand marketing, creative, and communications team in today's noisy, fractured, and fast-moving world, you have to understand and move seamlessly across disciplines to meet people where they are, connect with them on an emotional level, and engage them in a mutually beneficial relationship built over time through consistent and compelling content and experiences. My career spans strategy and implementation in agency and client-side, nonprofit and for-profit, entrepreneurial and Fortune 50/AMLAW 100 arenas. I have helped build two philanthropic brands for Charles Butt, chairman and former CEO of H-E-B, led marcomm and digital strategy for one of the nation's most beloved charity brands, served as the sole PR/corporate communications rep for a top law firm, run my own brand marketing, creative, and PR shop for several years, and more. Random things I'm proud of: - I've won several Haiku contests and served as Haiku Laureate for a TEDx event, and have had several poems, articles, and columns published.- I am a dual citizen of the U.S. and Finland and am working on a project to capture stories of Karelian evacuees from the Winter War of 1939-40 when Russia invaded Finland, and a historical fiction novel based on that time.- I'm a proud dad of two boys who both love photography and videography, play hockey, and are hockey referees.- I currently serve as board chair for Make-A-Wish of Central & South Texas, and invite you to join me in helping grant wishes to kids with critical illnesses, because wishes are good medicine: http://site.wish.org/goto/petridarby
