Brian is a member of Meta’s Global Security Systems and Technology (GSST) Design, Engineering & Construction (DEC) team. This team leads the implementation of physical security elements into Meta projects throughout the world. Our team endeavors to advance the state of Meta’s offices and data centers by guiding security infrastructure development through strategic and innovative solutions.Brian's role as Head of Design & Engineering includes overseeing the implementation of physical security elements across the full lifecycle of our global offices and data centers. This includes planning, design development, design coordination, construction, and refresh / retrofit. The Design & Engineering program focuses on physical security measures related to the built environment. When properly coordinated with operational security requirements, these security elements form the basis of design to minimize risk to Meta’s people, assets, and reputation.

Brian's roll as a Global Security Design & Engineering manager included overseeing the implementation of Facebook's Protective Design Guidelines into our global portfolio of office buildings.

Brian Petruzzi, PE, was an Associate with Thornton Tomasetti's Weidlinger Protective Design Practice. While at TT, Brian specialized in blast analysis and design of structures. This included conducting vulnerability studies and implementing protective design standards to establish solutions that protect new and existing facilities from explosive threats. Brian also worked in close collaboration with clients and other members of the design team to identify appropriate protective design standards and to develop practical protective-design approaches for new construction, renovations and historic restorations. Clients included The Department of Defense (DoD), General Service Administration (GSA), Department of State (DoS), and other private entities. He has contributed to the design of over 40 blast-protected structures including embassy's, military installments, government headquarters, laboratories, explosive test-ranges, private developments, and museums. His analysis and design experience includes calculating blast loads, developing Single-Degree-of-Freedom (SDOF) analytical models for a variety of building elements, analysis and design of exterior facade systems including windows systems, curtainwall systems, and architectural precast panels, progressive collapse analysis, and hazardous vehicle mitigation (HVM) design.

Brian Petruzzi, PE, was a Senior Structural Engineer with Weidlinger Associates, Inc (WAI). While at WAI, Brian specialized in blast analysis and design of structures. WAI merged with Thornton Tomasetti in 2015.

Conducted research on partially constructed steel I-girder bridges. Focused on stability (buckling) and serviceability issues (deflections/rotations, etc) during 3 phases of the construction process: the lifting process (with 1 or 2 cranes), the partially constructed phases before all bracing is attached to the girders, and the concrete deck placement. Helped develop a PC based, user-friendly 3-D finite element analysis program called UT Bridge that analyzes straight or curved I-girder bridges during girder erection and concrete deck placement.
