This is responsible administrative work involved in performing a wide variety of assigned tasks associated with all types and phases of construction inspection activities.

Public Works Administration

Advanced professional, technical and analytical work in the research, applied methodology, design, development, recommendation and implementation, and review and evaluation of existing and/or new or improved operational plans, programs or procedures to enhance management efficiency.Researches, plans, develops, recommends and implements complex management studies involving organizational goals, relationships and functions, services, realignment of existing programs, adoption of new plans and programs, work and operational improvements for an assigned department.

Public Works Administration

Coordinates the development and implementations of approved procedures and provides training sessions to employees for program implementation and interpretation. Updates and maintains department and division organizational charts, phone lists, emergency contact information, dispatch resources, and departmental maps. Coordinates department emergency operations plans. Assists with department budget, reviewing phone and fleet inventories, charges, and budget entries; tracks department assets including phones, radios, and fleet. Compiles and analyzes financial and operational data from available sources and disseminates findings as necessary. Makes mathematical and statistical computations. Implements department document management program to ensure compliance with State retention guidelines. May develop automated PC systems, including the use of available packages or programs and coordinates system development and programming to monitor and improve department operations. Uses available statistical packages or software programs and coordinates the development of systems and procedures to monitor and improve departmental operations. Evaluates cost and effectiveness of alternate program approaches. Designs and develops automated control reporting systems for use in analyzing operational procedures; evaluates performance data on a continuing basis and conducts periodic re-evaluations of prior analyses.

Planning And Economic Development

Responsible technical office and intensive public contact work of a moderate to difficultnature involving receiving and processing licensing, and permit requests or code enforcement cases.Work includes responsibility for performing technical and clerical office tasks of higher thanaverage difficulty and includes reviewing, processing and investigating requests and replying toinquiries regarding permits, occupational taxes, licenses, fees, City, State and Federal codes andother related matters. Work may include limited lead work within the office staff engaged in similaractivities and requires the exercise of considerable initiative, independent judgment, discretion, anddiplomacy in dealing with the public and businesses. Work also includes reviewing permit andlicense application or code enforcement cases on the more technical work for compliance with theCity, State and Federal codes, preparing written replies to inquiries from the construction industry,business community and the general public and performing a variety of related office work andcomputer functions as assigned. Work is performed under general supervision, with the verytechnical or policy matters being referred to a supervisor for resolution. Work is reviewed throughthe analysis of reports, conversation and observation of work performed.
