Peyton Lee Work Experience Details
  • Allen Institute
    Software Engineer
Allen Institute Jun 2023 - Present
    Seattle, Washington, Us
I work on front-end tools for data visualization, enabling scientific exploration and public sharing of large datasets. I use React and TypeScript to contribute to open-source repositories that advance our foundational knowledge of how cells grow, change, and develop.
  • Haptx Inc.
    Virtual Reality Software Engineer
    Haptx Inc. Nov 2022 - Mar 2023
    San Luis Obispo, California, Us
I developed VR demo content for the HaptX Dk2 haptic gloves using Unreal Engine 4. I wrote shaders using Unreal's Material Editor, architected multiplayer-compatible demo systems using Blueprints, and created custom 3D models and other assets in Blender. I iteratively designed level spaces and prototyped virtual interactions using stakeholder feedback.During my time at HaptX, I also planned and executed timelines for demos, specifying features and delivery milestones. I established the workflow and best practices for version control of binary data (using Git LFS), enabling teamwide collaboration in Unreal Engine.
  • Amazon Web Services (Aws)
    Sde Intern
Amazon Web Services (Aws) Jun 2021 - Sep 2021
    Seattle, Wa, Us
I developed an automated testing framework in Python for load-testing Nitro components. Over the course of my internship, I led my project through the entire product lifecycle, including design, iterative prototyping, and documentation, writing 1200+ lines of production-quality code.
  • Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (Mbari)
    Summer Intern
Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (Mbari) Jun 2020 - Aug 2020
    Moss Landing, Ca, Us
I interned on the automated classification and detection of deep-sea creatures project, creating a video benchmark for evaluating tracking algorithm performance on seafloor footage. In the process, I worked extensively with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and other cloud-based computing platforms, making use of containerization tools like Docker to deploy tracking algorithms and detection models in Linux-based containers. My work narrowed down the tracking algorithms that were best suited for our video dataset, as well as gain an understanding of their accuracy and precision using standardized metrics.
  • Foundry10
Vr And Marine Science Intern (Previously Summer Intern)
    Foundry10 Jun 2017 - Jun 2020
    Seattle, Wa, Us
I developed Bycatch-22, a virtual reality game built for the HTC Vive that is centered around fisheries bycatch (a marine conservation issue). The project was built in Unity/C# using the SteamVR plugin, and was presented at the Seattle Mini Maker Faire and Seattle Startup Week. Bycatch-22 was also playable at the Pacific Science Center's 'What is Reality' exhibit.Additionally, as a VR intern, I reviewed VR experiences for classroom use, conducting interviews with developers and writing original articles and other content pieces.
  • Ocean Exploration Trust
    Ocean Science Intern
Ocean Exploration Trust Jul 2019 - Aug 2019
I acted as a data logger onboard the E/V Nautilus, writing extensive status updates during ROV dives and side-scan sonar operations. I also assisted in the documentation, collection, and preservation of biological and geologic samples. All of this was accompanied by interaction with a live online audience during dives, where I interpreted scientific concepts to a diverse audience and contributed live commentary on the dive status.I also engaged online audiences via hand-drawn and watercolored travel comics centered around ocean exploration which were posted to social media (Instagram/Facebook) and self-published in print form (Live from the Deep).
