  - Work in a 56 bed level IV NICU.- Admit and manage critical infants ranging from 23 weeks gestational age to term, post-term, and transfers from outside hospitals. This includes care of patients with complex surgical needs, rare genetic disorders, and acute infections.- Experience with high frequency ventilators, conventional ventilators, tracheostomies, NIPPV, CPAP, HFNC, and LFNC. I am also familiar with nitric oxide administration.- Use interoperability on infusion pumps to safely administer both intermittent and continuous infusions.- Administer blood products, opioids, and other necessary medications safely.- Assist in the performance of RSI, central line placement, chest tube insertion, and lumbar punctures.- Familiar with Arctic Sun Cooling machines and management of HIE patients including management of infants on continuous EEG monitoring.- Care for cardiac surgical patients receiving prostaglandins preoperatively.- Care for surgical patients both preoperatively and postoperatively. This includes wound care, administration of antibiotics, and ensuring the pain/sedation plan is followed appropriately. - Perform family centered care for parents through education, communication, and inclusion. When working with parents whose preferred language is not English, I have used a combination of in person translators, CyraCom, and Globo.- Orient both travelers and new staff nurses to the NICU.- Work with new graduate nurses to develop critical thinking, NICU specific skills, and interpersonal communication with peers and parents. - Set weekly goals based on current educational needs and performance.- Follow unit based orientation guides and requirements to ensure the oncoming nurse can safely practice with our patient population.
