The Diversity Peer Educator (DPE) position supplements Residential Staff and Housing Student Service roles with training in social and restorative justice. Through advising a student-led Multicultural Council, hosting innovative events that bring together community members, and collaborating with other organizations on campus to expose University of Michigan students to peers from other walks of life, DPEs work to foster inclusion on campus.

As a Conference Community Assistant, my responsibilities include making keys for tenants, sorting mail, distributing information about prospective conferences to fellow staff members, problem-shooting errors in the system that require room assignments to be edited, and connecting residents to the larger campus and Ann Arbor community.

During my year as a Peer Mentor, I was charged with taking active responsibility for the well-being of new freshmen in the learning community. To do this, I met regularly with my peers, orchestrated events to facilitate inclusion, academic success, and mental health, and assisted administrators in transitioning new members into the community.
