For my final student teaching semester I was placed in a 2nd grade classroom at a local Christian School. I completed 2 weeks of full time teaching as well as many other teaching opportunities throughout the semester. I attended and participated in staff events and professional development days.

I was placed in an Early Childhood Special Education program with Wyoming Public Schools. We had students with many different needs ranging from a small speech impairment to a child with spina bifida. From this opportunity, I learned a lot of skills involving using visuals and hand motions, creating an inclusive physical classroom, how to incorporate standards and IEP goals into my lessons, and the inner workings of a classroom. I was able to practice my classroom management, create and lead lessons, and also got some experience with virtual teaching because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This teaching experience was part of a very tight-knit team which I am grateful to have been welcomed into and shown how collaborative teaching can be effective and efficient.

I was the co-teacher for the younger preschool classroom at a Reggio Emilia inspired early childhood center downtown. I aided the lead teacher in idea planning for the students and prepping provocations. I communicated with parents through a private Facebook page with pictures and updates, text messages, and in person. From this, I learned a lot about the Reggio philosophy and have started to incorporate some of its ideas into my teaching and lesson plans. I was able to work with other classrooms and see their ways of documentation as well as connect with the other children in the center.
