As a student in the Recreational Therapy program at Western Carolina University, I have Implemented and facilitated interventions that cater to different populations such as physical disabilities, intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral health, and older adults. What I love most about Recreational Therapy is that we look at the whole individual not just the diagnosis. I strive to help others achieve a better quality of life by implementing goal-oriented leisure, recreation, and interventions. Some of my greatest strengths are being able to make an individual feel heard along with being trustworthy, a determined team player, creative, and a positive leader. One of my greatest joys in life is coming up with new interventions that will positively influence an individual and seeing that influence with my own eyes. I will also say that seeing these positive outcomes with my clients is what motivates me to keep going. I am determined to help and make a positive impact on everyone I cross paths with in my life.When I’m not in class, you can find me studying along with practicing leading interventions. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends, family, and dog. I also enjoy spending time outside and learning new crafts!
