I teach art to students in grades 6-8 with emphasis on the elements and principles of art and design, real world careers and uses for art, and relevancy to student age and interests. Recently added an advanced class for 8th graders with emphasis on composition and concept and supervise independent study students.21-23' Positive Behavior Initiative System (PBIS) team member: meet regularly to identify and implement activities and incentives in order to reward and promote positive behavior among all grade levels.22-23' Building Leadership Team (BLT) member: meet regularly to discuss and resolve building or school-wide issues.21-present As part of a panel, assesses students in grades k-12 to determine giftedness in visual arts.20-21 Designed art curriculum for the district's remote art students during the pandemic; provided feedback to students districtwide while teaching full-time in person at my building. Currently design advanced art curriculum for 8th graders district wide.$10,000 GAR Educator Initiative Grant recipient 2021; "From Plot to Publisher: Writing, Illustrating, and Publishing Short Stories." This project reinforces ELA concepts & teaches lifelong technology skills. Students will also learn about the career pathway of writers and illustrators by participating in the process of writing, illustrating, and publishing a short story. $10,000 GAR Educator Initiative Grant recipient 2023; "Think Before You Ink;" focus is on building cultural connections and empathy district wide through a print exchange.
