As an Environmental Analyst in the Water and Natural Resources department at Fuss and O’Neill, I assist with a multitude of project tasks both in the field and office. Tasks include:- Analyzing both large geospatial and non-geospatial datasets with R, ArcGIS Pro, Power BI and Excel - Assisting Wetland Scientists with wetland delineations and reporting- Collecting GPS points using Trimble GNSS receivers and mapping using ArcGIS Pro- Local, state, and federal permitting for development, infrastructure, and land conservation projects - Conducting local, state, and federal consultations including State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), Tribal Historic Preservation Office (THPO), Natural Diversity Database (NDDB), and Information for Planning and Consultation (IPaC) - Water quality sampling- Analysis of future climate resiliency, flooding impacts, and project impacts using ArcGIS Pro

I assisted the Bagchi lab looking at topics relating to community ecology. This entailed studying the tri-trophic interactions among forest caterpillars, parasitoids, and plants (native and invasive). Additionally, I conducted and presented an independent project at the All-Biology Undergraduate Symposium using the data collected during fieldwork, and was awarded UConn’s Connecticut Museum of Natural History Award.Examples of my experience include conducting field surveying and sampling with a team of researchers. Identifying and recording native and invasive woody plants in research areas. Collecting, identifying, photographing, and transferring forest caterpillars to the lab for rearing. Entering field data onto excel sheets. Collaborating on research papers in weekly lab meetings and working through online R programming modules.

I assisted in the Schultz lab with taxonomic data entry, more specifically I worked with the taxa that have transitioned from marine to freshwater habitats. A major achievement I made during the project was writing an R script which scrapped taxonomic from online databases. Responsibilities included using Excel and R to clean taxonomic data. Entering taxonomic data from databases into excel sheets. Collaborating with other researchers in weekly lab meetings. Preparing written synopses of primary literature and presenting PowerPoints of synopses at lab meetings. I also helped with extracting otoliths from alewives for aging purposes.

I assisted a master's student in the Palmquist lab with topics relating to community ecology, more specifically the current and future impacts of sea level rise. Our study location is Parris Island, South Carolina. My primary duties were to assist with plot set up and vegetation sampling at study sites. This included identification of woody and herbaceous plant species, quantification of habitat variables, and the measurement of both size and abundance of tree species. Our sites ranged in habitat type with the most common types being salt marsh, salt flat, pine woodland, and maritime forest. My other duties included the creation and maintenance of an Access database for the project in addition to entering field data into this database and writing queries.

Duties include distributing machining and maintenance parts to Pratt and Whitney workers. I also make deliveries around the plant and serve customers at the shop counter. Additionally, I receive packages from vendors, restock items, and cycle count stock.

I assisted Dr. Sarah Maurer with her work on developing heterogeneous abiotic mixtures and analyzing them for potential chemical evolution. This was all done under the NASA Connecticut Space Grant Consortium and was conducted at Central Connecticut State University.Duties included creating solutions required for the project using solution stoichiometry. I performed manipulations on these solutions through processes like wet/dry cycles and partitioning. Additionally I analyzed these solutions for complex compound formation using High Performance Liquid Chromatography(HPLC), mass spectrometry, Fourier-transform inferred spectroscopy(FTIR), and Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. I also performed data analysis using Excel and presented the findings using PowerPoint.
