Hello! I'm Colleen and owning and operating an HR Services Firm is my dream. Would you believe that when I was in high school, I aspired to be an HR Manager? Since then, I've obtained my Bachelor's & Masters in Human Resources Management from Xavier University and achieved SPHR (Senior Professional HR) and SHRM - SCP (Senior Certified Professional) distinctions. Upon graduation, I started working in HR Generalist/Manager roles with companies like Sam Adams, Comair, and Jim Beam. That’s when I found my “life’s work” – helping mid-sized companies leverage employee enthusiasm to build their brands. After the heartbreaking closing of the Jim Beam plant (if you are from Cincinnati, you might remember the yummy-smelling factory on I-75?), I was approached by a former employer to do some consulting. I loved it. And after that contract ended, I was approached by another business, then another, and another. I learned that there is a demand in the market for fractional HR & Recruiting which paired nicely with a flexible schedule for a growing family and my love of building dynamic teams. I officially launched A Slice of HR in 2017, and we’ve seen steady growth ever since. We're now a team of eight and have anchored ourselves in historic downtown Mason, Ohio (minutes from Cincinnati and Dayton). My company is founded on the core belief that at the heart of any great company is a team of hard-working, smart, dynamic people. We partner with amazing clients who share that philosophy and put a high value on their team. Outside of work, I enjoy watching Sycamore Aviator sports (and theatre and music), Pokémon Go, Avenger movie nights, long-road trips with lots of quirky stops, and everything else that comes with hanging out with my husband, Keith, and our three incredible boys. I also am an avid reader, writer, and (reluctant) speaker.
