Directed multiple software, firmware and QA teams building Wi-Fi & HomePlug driver stacks for all client chipsets as well as the firmware reference design for all Wi-Fi routers reference designs. Responsible for innovation and strategy in all areas of the reference routers, including the transition to the OpenWRT Linux distribution from than an Atheros-proprietary Linux distribution.Also lead the team creating new prototype products to be showcased to customers. One of the team's most notable projects was the Qualcomm® AllPlay™ smart audio platform. Responsible for vision, innovation and platform strategies across multiple product groups, working with Business Development, Engineering and Marketing to provide complete solutions to customers and also provided technical due diligence for multiple acquisitions, including Bigfoot Networks and Orb Networks. Directed a large team of software, hardware, embedded firmware and QA engineers responsible for developing the communications and data networking technologies deployed in all Macintosh computers as well as the AirPort Base Station Wi-Fi Access Point product line.Managed every aspect of the design & manufacture of all hardware modules, device drivers and associated MacOS X user interface software for all of the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, dial-up modem and 3G WWAN technology used in Macintosh computers. Duties included day to day management of internal engineering teams, driving relations with silicon vendors worldwide and contract manufacturers in Asia, developing short & long term product and technology roadmaps, managing capital, spending & human resource plans/budgets.Visionary behind every aspect of the development of Apple’s AirPort Base Station line of Wi-Fi Access Point products including four different models of the AirPort Extreme, two different models of the AirPort Express as well as the Time Capsule product. Grew the business over tenfold in revenues to over $500M annually.Chief strategist behind Apple’s innovation and standards development in communications technologies, I also managed a Standards & Architecture group that sends representatives to organizations like IEEE, Wi-Fi Alliance, Bluetooth SIG and PCI SIG. Apple’s agenda and objectives were worked into these groups to form new standards and drive innovation of these technologies to meet Apple’s needs. Co-authored a number of patents for Apple in the AirPort Base Station products in areas such as AirTunes, Wi-Fi Direct and use of Link Local networking.Apple’s board member on the Board of Directors of the Wi-Fi Alliance where all Wi-Fi policy and standards coordination and interoperability compliance is driven. Successfully interacted with many executives from many of the member companies to help represent their interests at the board level of this organization.

Built the team responsible for the specification, design, implementation, integration, and testing of a variety of Wi-Fi (802.11) products including wireless client software for Linux, Macintosh, and Windows as well as embedded Wi-Fi access point products covering Enterprise, Secure Enterprise, and Small Office Home Office (SOHO) market spaces. Delivered multiple products under the labels of Apple, Avaya, Compaq, Dell, HP, IBM, Lucent, Toshiba & others.[The Wireless Communications and Networking Division of Lucent, among many others, were spun out of Lucent Technologies and became Agere Systems.]

One of the people responsible for Apple’s market-defining first generation AirPort base station product after leading the development of the world’s first modern wireless home router, the Lucent BG-2000. Lead a team of software engineers and a team of QA engineers who designed and implemented wireless client software solutions for the WaveLAN and Orinoco line of 802.11 products. This included driver and configuration interface development for the Windows, MacOS and Unix platforms. The team also developed all client software for the Lucent secure 802.11 product line called the AS-1000. After leading my team in integrating all of the embedded VxWorks code used in Lucent’s different WaveLAN 802.11 access point products for the Enterprise, Secure Enterprise, SOHO and Outdoor markets, I was promoted by the Director of the division to Sr. Manager and tasked with the duties described above. About six months after this promotion, Lucent spun it’s semiconductor division out into a new company called Agere Systems and the entire Lucent Wireless Division was moved into that new company.[Ascend Communications was bought by Lucent Technologies.]

Worked on the design and implementation of embedded data networking software solutions at Ascend and eventually was promoted to manager of my team. Team wrote low level embedded networking software technologies for products like the Ascend Max 6000 dial-up concentrator as well as the TNT and PPPoE concentrator devices and Pipeline broadband modems. Also wrote and debugged TCP/IP client software products like TCP/Connect4 and NFS/Share.[InterCon, a subsidiary of PSINet, was bought by Ascend Communications]

Responsible for specification, design, implementation, and testing of IETF standards-based TCP/IP client software for Macintosh and Windows platforms. Shipped over a dozen commercially successful networking software products including AOL’s first web browser for the Macintosh, TCP/Connect, NFS/Share, Networker, InterPrint, InterPPP and InterSLIP among others. InterCon Systems was purchased by PSINet in late 1995 who held the company as a wholly owned subsidiary until early 1997 when they sold the engineering assets of InterCon to Ascend Communications.

Was in two different roles at this company which was the largest VAR of Apple equipment to the US federal government. As a network design engineer I helped customers design the local, metropolitan and wide area networks for their facilities. As a software engineer I worked on internal software systems for the company to run on their Macintosh computers to aid in sales management and supply chain management.
