To be a good finance director it is more than just figures, it is about the people, the business performance as a whole and how you can enable the business to make the best decisions and achieve the desired results.I love the finance and business role, taking what others perceive as an overhead away and letting them focus on realising profitable growth. I’ve always been interested in business, ever since working in my fathers business, even from a young age in my studies in business and accountancy - I simply love the business world.Having a wide range of international experience in sales, construction, FMCG and manufacturing has been instrumental in helping me to see the situation from multiple viewpoints and to talk to people from all backgrounds and levels in ways they can engage with and understand.I think people are really at the heart of the operation, they make it happen and I get a real buzz from helping people to develop and to be the best they can be by sharing a little guidance and mentoring to help them achieve better performance at a personal or professional level. I’m always careful to leverage experience, consider the potential paths forward and the options to manage risk, control the finances and realise growth for the business, the team and myself.Love a challenge, be it in work to do something new, to challenge the status quo and evolve or whether it is getting a personal best time in my triathlon or Ironman. I’m never happier then when I am trying to make things better, more effective, efficient and then do things in new ways to get even better results.
