As a calculations engineer I designed heat exchangers produced by laser powder bed fusion printers for aerospace, electronics, automotive and energy. I conducted CFD and FEA simulation to help inform design suggestions for the mechanical design team who I would help when required. My role expanded to cover IT assistance and development of STL manipulation tools for the development of extremely complex designs that couldn't be managed by the CAD software.

I joined the FutureLAB team to design intelligent flexible material for additive manufacturing as well as other components to allow rapid replacement of components for Woodside Petroleum. During my time on the FutureLAB team I learned to validate components for industry use as well as develop high performance heat exchanger concepts for additive manufacturing.Designed components to be additively manufactured using SLS, FDM and polyjet printers primarily for Woodside Petroleum including large channeled flanges and compact heat exchangers. I also performed FEA analysis using ANSYS Mechanical and fluid flow and heat transfer analysis using ANSYS Fluent to certify and optimize the components for use in industry.

I joined the Monash FSAE team in my second year because I was keen to begin applying the knowledge I had learned in my first year. Once I was selected I joined the Aerodynamics section because it was where I thought I could contribute the most to vehicle performance and do the most development work. I preferred to spend my time on the team designing rather than leading which meant that I never took a formal leadership position but as a senior member I was involved in concept decisions, recruiting and working with technical sponsors.

I moved to Stuttgart (Germany) for six months to experience life in a new country and to work on a project using software simulation with actual vehicle hardware to allow for more consistent testing and development of vehicle powertrain systems to reduce their environmental impact, improve the range of electric vehicles and better understand vehicle emissions.
