Designed and developed a responsive, offline-enabled AngularJS web app and RESTful API for a startup franchise of Pret overseas. The brief was to replicate a legacy desktop app used for kitchen production as a tablet- friendly web app. The plan was to use this system for new and existing stores worldwide.I chose the following technologies, because they are well-suited, have longevity, and are easily picked up by other developers: AngularJS, Bootstrap, Stylus, UI Bootstrap, UI Router, IndexedDB, App Cache, i18n using angular- translate, Yeoman, Bower, Grunt, NancyFX, C#, Nuget, Firebase, T-SQL, and SQL Server (a requirement). If I had to do it again, I would have chosen SASS (for variety) and Gulp (for efficiency).I also chose to architect both the web app and API using DDD to keep them DRY, lean, and flexible. I carefully followed SOLID principles and used Robert Martin's guidelines for clean, readable code. If I had the time and Gherkin user stories, I would have employed BDD and TDD, using Protractor, Karma, and Jasmine.In the absence of an Agile environment, I worked closely with a QA, BA and my manager for quick and constant feedback. I also gave regular demos, roughly every two weeks.
