Phaedra Chrousos is the Chief Strategy Officer of Libra Group, a privately-owned international business group whose twenty subsidiaries manage and operate assets in nearly 60 countries. The Group is predominantly active in the aerospace, renewable energy and maritime sectors.As Chief Strategy Officer, Phaedra oversees a diverse portfolio of subsidiaries and leads multiple strategic initiatives. Recently, her role has expanded to include helping Libra subsidiaries integrate cutting-edge technological innovations, from piloting new use cases to placing purchase orders, into their businesses. In the past year, Phaedra has successfully launched an aerospace leasing business (SLI), established a maritime corporate venture lab focused on decarbonization (lomarlabs), and contributed to the creation of Libra's independent foundation (Libra Philanthropies).Phaedra is driven by a fundamental belief that technological and scientific innovation can solve some of the generational-defining challenges of the 21st century. Her beliefs are grounded in her experience as a 2x venture-backed technology founder and in her role as a political appointee for the Obama Administration, where she led and scaled several of the President’s digital initiatives, including 18F, and co-founded the Technology Transformation Service. Before leaving the administration, Phaedra co-authored the Modernizing Government Technology Act that established the federal government’s $1B Technology Modernization Fund.Passionate about paying it forward, Phaedra is an active board member and angel investor. She sits on the board of Vanda Pharmaceuticals, a publicly-traded, global biotech company. Phaedra also sits on the board of Dcode, which connects the technology industry and the U.S. government, and on the board of the Beeck Center for Social Impact and Innovation at Georgetown University. As an angel investor, Phaedra has invested in six early stage tech companies, ranging from an AI platform to a drone reforestation company and has had two exits.Phaedra began her career as a management consultant at The Boston Consulting Group and The World Bank. She received a BA from Georgetown University, an MSc with distinction from The London School of Economics, and an MBA with honors from Columbia Business School. Phaedra was twice named one of the Federal Government's '50 Women in Technology' by FedScoop and one of Greece's '40 under 40' by Fortune Magazine.
