Responsible for the procurement, deployment, and administration of the underlying Hitachi Data System's Storage Area Network, Database hosts and related hardware at the Datacenter. In addition to Storage and System Administration, I also provide Oracle and Postgres Administration to our various clients and work to scale the workloads as demand grows.

Responsibilities centered around deploying and administering all of the sequencing facility's Oracle databases and co-administrator of the datacenter infrastructure. Specifically:* Oracle Database Administrator. Responsible for ensuring the various Oracle Instances central to the Facilities Sequencing efforts are available 24x7. Deployed and managed various OLTP highly available Oracle and RAC Instances.* Mandated with the deployment and administration of the Facilities Backup and Recovery Infrastructure. I am charge with the archiving of > 250TB of file systems and Oracle (RMAN/User Managed Backups) based data residing on a large array of storage devices (SAN, NAS and locally attached storage) using a Veritas Netbackup Enterprise environment.* Responsible for the administration of the Datacenter's large fault tolerant Sun-Fire Enterprise and mid-range systems. Related duties including System and storage maintenance and system performance and network tuning.

As a Sun Professional Services consultant at the Government funded Human Genome project, I was charged with the responsibility of deploying and maintaining the Sequencing Facility's Data-center and Unix and Oracle infrastructure. Specifics include:* Deployed and administering Sun Enterprise 450, 3500, 6500, 280R, V880, the Sun Fire 4800 and 6800.* Database administrator for the production Oracle database storing the JGI sequence meta-data.* Deployment and administration of Domains, Dynamic Reconfiguration and other various High Availability components including the various software and hardware RAID Topologies (Veritas/Disksuite).* Responsible for the availability of 80 Terabytes of data hosted on various Network Appliance (F630, F760, and F840) and Auspex 2000 NAS Servers. In addition to administering NetApp's ONTAP O/S, periodic hardware servicing including DLT 7000 based Juke-boxes and NDMP based incremental archiving was also addressed on a weekly basis.

Charged with deploying the UNIX development and production environments on behalf of Ericsson Professional Services, Canada for the medical web portal www.medbroadcast.com. Following the Portal's public availability on August 15, 1999, the mandate shifted towards monitoring and performance tuning the Oracle Database, web services, and the various underlying software and hardware dependencies included:* Deploying and maintaining all Sun Enterprise Server Infrastructure in both Production and Development environments.* Installed and configured Oracle 8 on the production server.* Administered the Web Portal www.medbroadcast.com including all back-end components consisting of Apache, Netscape Enterprise Server, Oracle 8i, Net Gravity Ad Server, and analyzing network monitoring usage.
