Hi there! I’m Phalidpol Zhu, a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Science undergraduate student at the University of Auckland. I’m passionate about learning new things and exploring different disciplines. That’s why I’m pursuing a double major in computer science, finance and statistics. I want to use my skills in quantitative analytics, statistical data analysis, programming and research to solve real-world problems and create innovative solutions.As Charlie Munger said, "I couldn’t stand reaching for a small idea in my own discipline when there was a big idea right over the fence in somebody else’s discipline. So I just grabbed in all directions for the big ideas that would really work." I believe that having a multidisciplinary background can help me see things from different perspectives and find connections that others might miss. I think this is a valuable quality in today’s complex and dynamic world.Before joining the University of Auckland, I graduated from Rangitoto College with a National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 3 with excellence endorsement. I studied a variety of subjects, including geography, physics, calculus, computer science and ICT. I also participated in extracurricular activities such as the New Zealand Informatics Competition, World Vision Community Fundraiser and Sustainable Coastlines Volunteer. These experiences helped me develop my software development, web development, project management and mathematical analysis skills as well as my social responsibility and leadership potential.I’m always looking for new opportunities to learn and grow as a student and a professional. I’m interested in internships, projects, competitions and networking events that can challenge me and broaden my horizons.
