PhD Candidate cum Researcher for doctoral research “Urban morphology, basic services and social practices – Case study of the narrow-lane districts in Hanoi” (http://theses.insa-lyon.fr/publication/2010ISAL0134/these.pdf - thesis in French)• Investigated the urbanization of Hanoi by addressing various issues of urban development such as housing conditions, urban infrastructures like electricity, water supply, sanitation and waste management as well as public space. • Carried out in-depth surveys, trained and guided 15 students, worked directly with local communities in selected wards to have a comprehensive and comparative study.• Published five peer-reviewed papers for international conferences in Vietnam, Germany, China, Hong Kong and United States• Received travel grant of Harvard University in 2010• Presented several seminars in France and Vietnam, including an invited presentation for the Counselor for Cooperation and Cultural Action of French Embassy in Vietnam• Finished dissertation in three years with a successful PhD defense having recommendation for a book publication from scientific jury
