About Phanna Kov
Born into an impoverished family, Phanna never imagined he would have the chance to pursue an education. He did go to school, but it wasn't until grade 6 that he learned to write and do basic math. Tragedy struck when his mother passed away in November 2010, leading Phanna and his sister to be brought to an orphanage.Despite his difficult circumstances, Phanna held onto HOPE that education could offer a brighter future for himself and his family. With unwavering discipline and determination, he transformed from an illiterate child to a high school graduate in 2017, achieving an impressive Grade A on the National High School Examination, a prestigious accomplishment for high students in Cambodia.Phanna holds a bachelor's degree in Social Policy and Development (International Program) from Thammasat University in Thailand, graduating with first-class honors and receiving the Academic Excellence Award for four consecutive years. In May 2023, Phanna returned to Cambodia to pursue a career in leading the Future of Work Initiative at Teach For Cambodia (TFC), a locally-led non-profit organization. TFC stands out for its innovative approach to catalyzing change by enlisting Cambodia's promising future leaders to work with the most marginalized children and foster their ongoing leadership potential. As a Project Coordinator, Phanna spearheads the Future of Work Initiative, forging public and private partnerships to enhance the leadership of our teacher leaders and students. This collaborative leadership effort aims to provide Cambodian students with quality education and equip them with essential skills for the future of work, fostering a new generation of leaders who will drive positive change within their communities.
