Mr. Shen comes from a family with generations of ties with the pharmaceutical industry in China. He is a strategist, advisor and publisher specializing in China healthcare. Mr. Shen began his career in the pharma industry with Beijing Novartis Pharmaceutical Ltd. in 1987 when this Novartis joint venture in China was first started. In 1991, Mr. Shen founded WiCON International Ltd. in the U.S. to provide strategic consulting and competitive intelligence to international healthcare companies for their market entry and development in China. He worked with many large and mid-size pharmaceutical and investment companies in a variety of projects. In late 1990s, he consulted exclusively for a few MNC generic pharma companies, and was responsible for their business development activities and joint venture projects in Asia-Pacific countries.He was the managing editor of IMS China Update, a well-known monthly newsletter on China’s healthcare markets jointly published by IMS and WiCON between 1993 and 2003. Mr. Shen is the co-founder of a number of pharmaceutical startup companies in China including Beijing Jicai Pharmaceutical Technology Ltd. and Nanjing Zinox Pharmaceutical Ltd.Mr. Shen was educated in China, Europe and the U.S. at university and postgraduate levels, and received a MBA from the University of Exeter, U.K. in 1990.
