Since my childhood I have been dreaming about doing something that will make the world a better place. After giving up on the idea of “the pill that will make everyone immortal” I have found the new generation of photovoltaics to be an ideal candidate to fulfill this wish. Ever since encountering the technology during my Master’s at Fraunhofer-ISE, I have been working hard to turn this topic from being an interesting research subject into a successful commercial product. After authoring some high-impact research articles during my PhD and getting hands-on experience on upscaling techniques at Opvius, I joined Saule - a back then 15 people start-up - to commercialize printed perovskite photovoltaics.After spending half a year in the lab, my responsibilities shifted to capitalize on my social and language skills. In the following years, I have become a jack of all trades, leading activities in marketing, fundraising, business and product development, intellectual property, and project management. Currently I am essentially a connecting point between technology, science and business, having a general oversight on all activities at the company. Some achievements I am proud of:1) Playing a key role in securing 10 M EUR investment to the company by creating part of the pitch deck, being the contact point for investors, and preparing documentation for due diligence2) Securing over 5 M EUR funding in research grants through preparing project proposals for European and national funding schemes. 3) Spearheading the idea of market entrance through IoT applications - from market research and identifying potential customers to technology and product development. Currently I am the project leader for a 4.35 M EUR grant aimed at upscaling indoor perovskite photovoltaics for IoT applications and the main contact point for this market segment. 4) Establishing and implementing intellectual property policies, building a portfolio valued at 20M EUR with over 10 patent families and 140 trade secrets. I am personally an inventor of 3 patent applications and an industrial design4) Recruiting and recommending excellent talent to the team that have contributed a lot to develop to the stage where we are now5) Being a reliable information and dad joke source for my colleagues - many of whom I can call my friends :)Recently my favourite conversation topics are cryptocurrencies and passive income. When I am not in that geeky mood, I love to organize team building events - even if it only means a few glasses of wine or a surprise houseparty at 4 am.
