Designing garments for the four own brands of John Lewis. This includes sketching designs and presenting them to designers, choosing fabrics, CADing designs and briefing to suppliers as well as ensuring that the designs would be desirable to the customer.- Preparing boards for meetings and inspiration: range plans, mood boards, trend boards and brand profile boards.- Taking part in meetings with Garment Technologist to discuss fit and style of designs as well as sitting in fit meetings to observe how adjustments are made to samples.- Working closely with buyers to discuss changes to the ranges and to present the final ranges for review.- Assisting the woven and knitwear designers in the development of the John Lewis Woman, Collection Weekend and Kin ranges through offering ideas, recommendations and opinions throughout the design process- Assisting the designer by ensuring that the sampling process is efficient through producing precise design packs for woven, knitwear and jersey designs. This includes clearly briefing designs to suppliers along with the design specification.- Meeting and communicating with overseas suppliers to discuss the development of designs – this includes the sourcing of fabrics and trims, issuing lab dips and changes to styles.
