I am the chair of the Board of Directors of NUI Galway Students'​ Union Commercial Services Ltd., a company with a turnover of c. €3.5m and is an employer to c. 70 employees. - The company was started, fostered and maintained by the NUI Galway Students'​ Union - The company has an emphasis on commercial and social objectives, informed by the ethos of the students' union.- I chaired the board over massive changes to the company and its board which also saw the company get to profit margins in quite sometime.

I was elected President of NUI Galway Students' Union for the 2015-2016 academic year in a five candidate election. - I am the lead spokesperson for the students on NUI Galway on a variety of issues - I am charged with representing members on a variety of University Committees, as well as leading and coordinating lobbying (political, etc.) at a local and national level- I have been a contributor to local and national media on student issues, - I have appeared on several media platforms.- I am the chief negotiator on behalf of Union members with University management.The President co-ordinates the activities of the Students’ Union and works with University Management to achieve the best academic environment and quality of life for NUI Galway students. The President is responsible for Union finances, co-ordination of Union campaigns and acts as the chief spokesperson of the Union. They oversee the Commercial Services of the SU, uphold the Constitution and look after the day to day running of the SU with staff.

Elected to this full-time position with over 1,400 first preference votes, defeating one other candidate to leading fifteen officers and five staff in representing the interests of our 18,000 members with the University, the Government, statutory authorities and the wider community.- Managed the election of 416 class representatives in Sept/Oct and chairing their 24 annual meetings.- Facilitated students who find themselves under severe financial pressure in relation to their fees and living expenses through payment plans and student assistant fund.- Member of NUIG Governing Body, Academic council & various other committees.- Allocated a €250m budget as a member of NUI Galway’s Governing Authority and Strategic Planning committee and an €800,000 students project fund.-Won Best Education Campaign of the year at the national Student Achievement Awards Ireland.-Successfully lobbied the University for provisions to be made regarding exam deferrals.-Made Practical Work experience a priority in the universities strategic plan (Vision 2020).-Instrumental in Registering over 4,000 NUI Galway Students on the electoral register for the Marriage Equality Referendum.The Education Officer assists students in areas such as grants, exams, the library and computer facilities. The Officer works with University Management to improve academic services and is a member of Academic Council. The Education Officer also co-ordinates Class Reps and organises the Education Forum

I was appointed to Údarás na hOllscoile, the University's Governing Authority, as President of the Students'​ Union - Student Representative on the Governing Authority of the University- Brought issues of fundamental importance to our members to the Authority - Held University Authorities to account on key issues facing our members and the University community - Contributed to Vision 2020 - the University's latest strategic plan - Also sit on the Finance & Resource Committee, Heads of Function, Parking Management Appeals Group (PMAG), Strategic & Standing Committee, Academic Planning and Resource Committee, Acadamic Councils Standing Committee and & the Academic Council of NUI Galway

I was one of the leading campaigners for the Marriage Equality Referendum on May 22nd 2015 advocating for a yes vote with Yes Equality.Duties included canvassing the Galway West and East Constituencies as well as co-ordinating the "Equality Town" initiative where I signed up businesses to publicly support the yes vote. I also appeared in various media channels in Inishowen Donegal (My home town) advocating for a yes vote as well as appearing on The Peoples Debate on Vincent Browne.
