Our primary focus was investigating and analysing simplified equations for axial and shear loading of reinforced walls as outlined in the Australian Standard AS3600. Additionally, we conducted comparative assessments with leading international standards including ACI318, NZS3100, CSA C23.3, and Eurocode, aiming to identify potential areas of improvement and enhance engineering practices.Key Responsibilities:- Conducted literature reviews and research to understand the methodologies and equations stipulated in AS3600 and other international standards for reinforced wall design under axial and shear loading conditions.- Collaborated closely with Dr. Mahdi Gharib to collect data, perform calculations, and analyse the accuracy and applicability of the simplified equations in AS3600.- Utilised MATLAB to simulate various loading scenarios and validate the equations' performance against real-world case studies and experimental data.- Generated detailed reports and presentations summarising our findings, including comparative analyses of different standards, highlighting strengths, weaknesses, and potential areas for harmonisation or improvement.- Presented our research outcomes and recommendations to industry professionals to contribute to ongoing discussions and advancements in structural engineering practices.
