I gained QTS as a GTP student at Outwood Grange Academy. During this time, I taught a mixture of KS3, 4 and 5. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching A level philosophy and ethics and the students were very successful, gaining 100% A-C at AS level. My GCSE RE results and KS3 results in both RE and PHSEE & Citizenship were also very good and I was very proud of the students’ achievements. Following this, I have spent time teaching in different schools and colleges, developing my teaching skills and achieved good results. More recently at LCC I have taught on the Computer Games course and used my experience to create engaging and creative lessons in a subject area I have not taught in before. This has led onto various opportunities, such as becoming a Director of Sleepy Brain Studios, and working with iHobo on a project developing my level design skills.I have put a lot of time and effort into learning many aspects of the games industry and developed skills in the areas of level design and sound design, as well as game theory. I have undergone a lot of CPD in my own time, including continuing my education in the form of my Master's at Leeds Beckett, studying Sound and Music for Interactive Games, as well as taking an active role in Games Republic and GaMaYo, attending events representing the college to the industry.I have taken a lead role in teaching and planning the games audio module and developing this both as a level 3 module within the Games course and creating a foundation degree program for Sound and Music for Screen Media. As well as writing modules for the degree and being involved in the validation process for that, I have also enjoyed teaching at a degree level and want my career to progress in that direction in the future. I also take part in outreach events, going into schools and running taster days for potential students and into college (L3) for outreach for the foundation degree course. I enjoy doing open days and talking to potential students and families, talking about the courses I have taught on and, particularly with the level 3 games course, dispelling myths and people’s preconceptions of ‘games’ as an academic subject.
