Farmer/SalesmanChrisman Family Farms 1986 - Oct 1999I grew up on a diversified farm in Knoxville, Iowa that had hogs, cattle, corn, soybeans and alfalfa. Growing up on a farm is a great way to develop a very strong work ethic. It also gives you the opportunity to work at a fairly young age. I had a strong mechanical ability at a very young age. During my college years I worked on the farm during the summers and several weekends, After graduating from Iowa State University I stayed on the farm with my brother and father. From 1991 - 1999 I ran a DeKalb seed dealership along with farming. My strengths were mechanical aptitude, agronomy and sales. From 1992 - 1998 I served as a Soil Conservation Commissioner for Marion County Iowa. In 1999 I felt like our farming operation simply wasn't large enough to support 3 families, so I left the farm to work for Vermeer Corporation.
