I am a Commercial Manager with over 25 years of experience in the construction industry working for Clients, Consultants and Contractors. I have considerable expertise in social housing refurbishment projects and have been a key member of our very successful long-term partnership with Sandwell MBC (NEC Option D - Target Cost - £190M - 3 Phases - 2005 to 2018).My project management experience in the social housing sector enables me to make a valuable contribution to the team across a range of disciplines to ensure the whole team is focussed on delivering best value and a high quality service at all times. I am currently responsible for managing and developing the Division’s commercial team within the Midlands area and for the financial success and commercial compliance of all projects in the region.I enjoy building and developing my team through daily mentoring, team meetings, 1 to 1's and I have delivered and assisted my team in delivering many "in house" training sessions. I also act as an APC Counsellor for VINCI and have had success in helping candidates through the APC process.Other projects I have been involved in at VINCI include Sandwell voids, Sandwell Windows, Redditch bathrooms, various MOJ prison/courts refurbishment projects, Wrekin Housing Trust responsive repairs, Compton Grange fire precaution works, HomeZone Housing refurbishments and assisting the bid team in tendering new opportunities including attending interviews and delivering presentations.

I was employed as a Senior QS based in the Birmingham office and overseeing a team of 4 less experienced QS's, one of which passed his APC during this time.Commercial duties and responsibility from feasibility to Final Account on a number of BT office refurbishment projects (NEC Option A or C - each £1.5M - £4M).Project Management and Quantity Surveying roles on social housing refurbishment schemes (JCT, IFC & bespoke SoR - each £1.3M to £5M).Sundry other duties including BOQ production and estimating (utilising RIPAC).

Progressed from Assistant QS to Senior QS whilst undertaking a full range of commercial duties on a variety of planned maintenance, new build and refurbishment projects including listed buildings.Utilised a number of contract forms including Design & Build, IFC, JCT, Prime Cost and Minor Works. Gained experience of working for Housing, Education, Museums, Parks and Leisure Departments.Passed my APC at the first attempt in 1996 thus gaining chartered status with the RICS.Successfully carried out both the QS and PM roles on a number of housing refurbishment projects. In 1999 I became responsible for managing a team of 22 multi-disciplined staff to successfully deliver all of the Housing Department's planned maintenance projects (£9M p.a.)
